Daily UI

Daily UI is a series of design prompts to inspire and challenge designers to expand their practice and share their work with one another. The series consists of 100 daily challenges that are emailed to you for free on sign up.

While I have not been doing these challenges daily, I am working my way through all 100 and posting the solutions here. My main goals in partaking in these challenges are to push myself as a designer to try different visual styles and improve my prototyping and animation skills.

The Prompt

Create a sign up page, modal, form, or app screen related to signing up for something. It could be for a volunteer event, contest registration, a giveaway, or anything you can image.

Goals

As a roller derby player myself, I often hear people say they could never skate. I wanted to make this sign up appear as welcoming and accessible as possible. From a design standpoint I wanted to practice combining text and photography as well as prototyping and gif making.

002

The Prompt

Design a credit card checkout form or page. Don't forget the important elements such as the numbers, dates, security numbers, etc.

Goals

For this design, on top of ensuring the essential functionality was present I wanted to push myself to work with gradients and metallic colors, from which I often personally shy away. I also wanted to play with the microinteractions of selecting a card or entering a new card.

The Prompt

Design a landing page. What's the main focus? Is it for a book, an album, a mobile app, a product? Consider important landing page elements (call-to-actions, clarity, etc.)

Goals

This challenge was a bit more personal for me: The Black Keys are one of my favorites bands, and I have loved the artwork for their Chulahoma album for years. I wanted to design an eye-catching landing page as if the The Black Keys were touring for Chulahoma today.

004

The Prompt

Design a calculator. Standard, scientific, or specialty calculator for something such as a mortgage? Is it for a phone, a tablet, a web app?

Goals

I had two main goals for this challenge: first, design a calculator in the way that I would find to be the most usable, and second, practice neumorphism for the buttons. Upon reflecting on my own calculator use, I determined that I strongly preferred being able to view a history of what had been entered.

Stay tuned for more to come!
